Producers-Only Market

All of the items for sale at the Menomonie Farmers Market are grown, raised, and produced by the people behind the tables. Absolutely no re-sale is allowed! All of our customers are encouraged to ask vendors where, when, and how the items are produced. This gives you, the customer, complete transparency as to where your purchase comes from and allows you to shake the hand, literally, of the person that produced it for you to enjoy.

At some markets, farmers are allowed to buy produce and other items from outside sources to provide a greater variety to customers, but the downside is that you no longer know where that food is coming from, how it’s grown, how far it’s traveled, etc. Our local supermarkets already have that kind of food covered.

The downside to a producer-only market is that the selection is limited to what can be grown in our local climate at the specific times during the year. But isn’t that what eating local is all about?

Local Produce & Flowers

ALL PRODUCE FARMERS certify that all produce sold at the Menomonie Farmers Market is grown by
them from seeds or plugs. Growers honestly share their farming practices, fertilizer usage, herbicide
application and harvesting time with market staff and customers alike.

Local Meats, Dairy & Eggs

ALL ANIMAL/POULTRY/FISH FARMERS certify that all animal products and by-products sold at the market
are from animals raised on their farm. They certify that all livestock were born on their farm or purchased at a young age and have been raised on their farm for:

poultry - no less than eight weeks
cattle - no less than twelve months
small ruminants & swine - no less than six months
eggs - from chickens raised no less than twelve weeks

Local baked, canned, and hot foods

ALL FOOD PRODUCERS certify that all items sold at the market are made by them following their original formulas, recipes, and/or techniques.

Local Arts & Crafts

ALL ARTISTS certify that all items sold at the market are made by them from scratch and are of original
design. Artists pledge to never use pre-mixed/partially constructed products sold in bulk or in kits.
